Dentistry

A healthy mouth is important for a healthy body! We're here to help you maintain optimal dental health for your pet.

At Albion Park & Gerringong Veterinary Hospitals, we believe in a well-rounded approach to dentistry and oral hygiene. This starts with the right advice on what to feed your pet and how to brush your pet’s teeth if appropriate. We stock a comprehensive range of dental diets, dental chews, chew toys, toothbrushes and pastes to help ensure your pet’s teeth stay clean for longer.

Regular yearly check-ups are essential to monitor and diagnose common problems such as periodontal disease, gingivitis, tooth root abscesses and feline oral resorptive lesions. These conditions are painful and the bacteria that causes gum disease can also cause infections in your pets organs such as the heart and liver.

Our hospitals are equipped with the latest IM-3 dental suites and dental radiography equipment (X-ray) which help us diagnose disease under the gum that we can’t see. Routine scale and polish procedures may be recommended to remove tartar and plaque from your pet’s teeth, halting the progression of periodontal disease. We also perform dental extractions for retained, fractured, or infected teeth. A modern approach to pain management including dental nerve blocks with local anaesthetic, opioid and anti-inflammatory pain medication is provided to ensure your pet’s pain is reduced.

Rabbit and rodent dentistry

Our veterinarians can diagnose and treat dental disease in rabbits and rodents. We treat incisor malocclusions ( overgrown teeth), dental abscesses and spurring and elongation of cheek teeth. A rabbit photo next to this text would be ideal.
